- 1868 - Albert Cracroft Fookes, a Land and General Agent originally from Kent in England, builds a store in the new settlement of Waverley. Fookes moves to New Plymouth after the Taranaki Land Wars and is elected New Plymouth's second mayor in 1878.
- 1876 - Fookes store is occupied by William Overend, a draper and ironmonger who is also the agent at Waverley for the National Fire and Marine Insurance Company of New Zealand.

1880 - John Muir and wife Catherine (nee Boyd) emigrate to New Zealand from Glasgow and settle in Waverley, taking over the business from Overend. J Muir and Son is established, selling drapery, iron, wine and spirits, grass seed, patent medicines, boots and shoes.
- March 1888 - The store is destroyed by fire.
- November 1888 - The store is rebuilt "having a frontage of 54 feet to the main street, with a depth of 70 feet [... and is] lighted, in addition to the front windows, by an immense skylight" (Patea Mail, 19 November 1888). John Muir names the building Glasgow House.
- 1919 - Edwin Charles Dallison takes over Glasgow House and E C Dallison Ltd is established, offering drapery, dressmaking, outfitting and millinery.
- 1936 to 1974 - Dallison and Sons Ltd is established as a family business, with various family members involved in the business over time, including Max (1936), Ceril (1947), Ross (1952) and Brent (1974).
- 1938 - Furniture is added to the range of goods offered by Dallison and Sons Ltd, a tradition which continues today, offering the highest quality bedroom, lounge and dining furniture.
- 1980 - Barbara Dallison (Brent’s Wife) joins the team, offering curtain making and installation services with superior customer service.
- 2021 - Brent and Barbara Dallison retire, selling Glasgow House and Dallison and Sons Ltd after 102 years in the same family.
- 2021 - Kylie James purchases Glasgow House and Dallison 2021 Ltd is established. A Waverley local, Kylie has expanded the business with her interior design knowledge. She is committed to continuing the business and maintaining the reputation and history of the store.
